Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, who underwent gallbladder surgery at Near East University Hospital, was discharged today. The closed gallbladder surgery (laparoscopic cholecystectomy) performed on Saturday by Near East University Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Salih Müjdat Balkan, Anesthesia and Intensive Care Specialist Prof. Dr. Gülay Eren and General Surgeon Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Özant, lasted approximately one hour.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, who applied to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital on Friday morning with complaints of severe abdominal pain, was transferred to Near East University Hospital due to the need for a gastroenterology consultation. As a result of his examination by gastroenterology specialist Prof. Dr. Abdulvahit Yükselen, no condition was detected in his esophagus, stomach and duodenum that would explain the discomfort. Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, whose coronary angiography was performed by Prof. Dr. Hamza Duygu and came back normal, had an increase in the size of his gallbladder and widespread sludge and millimetric crystals detected in the gallbladder after a hepatobiliary ultrasound performed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğurcan Balyemez.

Despite the medical treatment, complaints continued during follow-ups, and as a result of the examination carried out by the gastroenterology and general surgery department faculty members, the decision to perform surgery was made after the abdominal tomography repeated on Saturday showed that the reason for the unrest was gallbladder inflammation. Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, whose gallbladder was removed by closed method, was discharged after regaining his health after spending the weekend at the Near East University Hospital.
