Near East University launched a blood donation and winter clothing aid campaign for earthquake victims in Turkey


After the earthquake that affected Kahramanmaraş and surrounding provinces in Turkey, Near East University started a blood donation and winter clothing aid campaign for earthquake victims. The earthquake, which was also felt in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, caused great damage in many cities in the South East, Mediterranean and Eastern Anatolia regions of Turkey. After the earthquake, which the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency announced as 7.7, aftershocks continue.

It is possible to donate blood at Near East Hospitals
Near East University started a blood donation campaign to contribute to the blood needs of citizens injured in the earthquake in Turkey. Those who want to contribute to the campaign will be able to donate blood at the Near East University Hospital, Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital and Near East University Yeniboğaziçi Hospital.

Winter clothing and blanket aids will be collected at the Near East University AKKM
After the earthquake, which took place in a period of cold weather, winter clothes and blankets are also one of the important needs of earthquake victims. In addition to the blood donation campaign, Near East University will contribute to this need with the aid campaign for winter clothes and blankets. All winter clothing and blanket aids that will be collected at the Student Dean’s Help Desk located at the entrance of the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center will be delivered to the disaster area immediately. Those who want to support the campaign will be able to leave their clothes and blankets between 08.00-20.00.

The first donation in the blood donation campaign was made by the Founding Rector of Near East University, Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel and Günsel said, “Get well soon, my Turkey! We are with you with our blood and soul.” Near East University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, on the other hand, called on all the people to support the aid campaigns and said, “We are following with great sadness the consequences of the earthquakes in our homeland Turkey. As Northern Cyprus Turks, in these difficult days, we stand by our motherland with our blood, our souls and all our means.”
