Near East University Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Head Coach Diogo Moraes Azevedo placed third in Europe in two categories at the championship held in Paris

Near East University Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Head Coach Diogo Moraes Azevedo, who has won many world and European championships in his career, placed third in two categories at the European Championship organized by IBJJF in Paris last week.

Diogo Moraes Azevedo, who has been working as the Near East University Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Head Coach for many years, participated in the 2024 IBJJF European Championships held third time in the “Master Male Black Super Heavy, Master Male Black Super Weight” category in Paris last week. Diogo Moraes Azevedo also succeeded in reaching the podium by placing third in the openweight category.

Near East Sports Tower Jiu Jitsu Instructor and athlete Diogo Moraes, who was also the champion in the Rome Open organized by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) in 2023, had also achieved significant success in previous years. Diogo Moraes Azevedo, becoming the European Champion at The European Masters tournament organized by IBJJF in Barcelona in 2022, also became the World Champion by defeating 2018 IBJJF European Champion Elgar Rafigaev at the ACBJJ World Open Brazilian Championship held in Moscow in 2018.

Expressing his happiness for reaching the podium at the 2024 IBJJF European Championship, Near East University Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Head Coach Diogo Moraes Azevedo said, “I have achieved great success by competing with the world’s most important athletes at the 2024 IBJJF European Championships, one of the most prestigious tournaments in the Jiu Jitsu world. I am extremely pleased with this achievement.”

Diogo Moraes Azevedo, who also gives “Brazilian Jiu Jitsu” training every weekday at the Near East University Sports Tower, said, “While continuing the training for the upcoming tournaments, we also do our best at the Near East University Sports Tower to make young people in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus love Jiu Jitsu.”
