Innovative approaches in surgery were discussed at the “Da Vinci Robotic Surgery Northern Cyprus Symposium” held at Near East University Hospital!

The latest developments in the field of robotic surgery were discussed with the participation of experienced surgeons at the “Da Vinci Robotic Surgery Northern Cyprus Symposium” held at Near East University Hospital. Robotic surgery ensures that the commands given by specialist doctors from the surgeon’s console are transmitted to the patient’s surgery area via robotic arms. In addition, this method allows the operation to be performed more precisely with the 3D image it provides to the surgeon during the surgery. This method, which allows the operation to be performed through smaller incisions compared to traditional surgery methods, offers significant comfort to patients by shortening the healing process.

Moderated by Near East University Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Salih Müjdat Balkan, in symposium Cardiovascular Surgery Specialist Prof. Dr. Cengiz Bolcal, General Surgery Specialist Prof. Dr. Hasan Bektaş, Head and Neck Surgery Specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arzu Karaman Koç, Urology Specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fuat Kızılay and Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Gynecological Oncology Specialist Prof. Dr. Müfit Cemal Yenen made presentations. Experts who have great experience in Da Vinci Robotic Surgery applications shared their experiences in the field with the participants.

All aspects of robotic surgery were discussed

At the “Da Vinci Robotic Surgery Northern Cyprus Symposium”, which brought together the leading surgical experts in their fields, the features, advantages and role of robotic surgery today and in the future were discussed. Also at the symposium, the effects of the Da Vinci Robotic Surgery system and similar technologies on surgical practice, improvements in surgical results and their potential to increase patient satisfaction were also discussed. With practical video presentations, participants gained in-depth information about the clinical use of robotic surgery. Participants, who had the chance to closely watch how robotic surgery transformed surgical practice through presentations, evaluated the effects of this innovative technology on patient care and results and discovered ways to achieve better results in surgical practices.

The opening speeches of the symposium were made by Mehmet Soykurt, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Near East Enterprises and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hospitals, and Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Gynecological Oncology Specialist Prof. Dr. Müfit Cemal Yenen.

Mehmet Soykurt: “Nowadays, we have come to a point where patients demand ‘operate on me with a robot’.”

Mehmet Soykurt, Member of the Board of Trustees of Near East Enterprises and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hospitals, stated in his opening speech that he has been closely interested in Da Vinci Robotic Surgery for many years. Soykurt; “Today, we have come to a point where patients are demanding ‘operate on me with a robot’.”

Stating that specialist doctors in gynecology, cardiovascular surgery, urology, general surgery and many branches around the world have performed successful operations with this technique, Soykurt said, “Near East Enterprises Hospitals have the vision and expert physician staff to offer the robotic surgery method to the service of our people.”

Prof. Dr. Müfit Cemal Yenen: “It is a method that makes surgical operations possible with fewer errors and makes the work of both patients and surgeons easier.”

Prof. Dr. Müfit Cemal Yenen, in his speech at the opening, stated that robotic surgery is a current application and stated that he was introduced to this constantly developing application in 2011. Stating that this method makes operations much easier, Prof. Dr. Müfit Cemal Yenen said, “It is actually a surgeon-friendly system that makes surgeries possible with fewer errors, both for the patient and for us. Through the symposium, our specialist physicians had the opportunity to learn about the use of robotic surgery in their fields.”
