Having completed 16 days of treatment at the Near East University Hospital, Dr. Derviş Eroğlu was discharged today


The 3rd President of the TRNC, Dr. Derviş Eroğlu, whose treatment was completed at the Near East University Hospital, was discharged today. On July 3, Dr. Eroğlu, who applied to the Near East University Hospital with complaints of high blood pressure and short-term loss of consciousness, regained his health after 16 days of treatment.

ICD was implanted into his heart, the carotid artery was opened and cleaned.
At the Near East University Hospital, firstly, Dr. Derviş Eroğlu was implanted with an ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) on July 5 to take his heart rhythm under control. Near East University Hospital Cardiology Department Head Prof. Dr. Hamza Duygu, Prof. Dr. Levent Cerit and Dr. Aziz Günsel performed the operation to implant the ICD, which automatically detects the irregularity and returns the heart rhythm to normal with electroshock.

On July 13, 80 percent stenosis was detected with tomographic angiography in Dr. Derviş Eroğlu’s carotid artery. The plaques that caused the stenosis was removed through the “carotid” surgery performed. The operation carried out by Near East University Cardiovascular Surgery team consisting of Prof. Dr. Aşkın Ali Korkmaz, Prof. Dr. Barçın Özcem, Assist. Prof. Dr. Özlem Balcıoğlu and Anesthesiologist Dr. Yeşim Taşeli took about 2 hours.

After 16 days of treatments and operations at the Near East University Hospital, Dr. Eroğlu’s high blood pressure was taken under control, heart rhythm and carotid artery problems were treated successfully, and the 3rd President of TRNC Dr. Derviş Eroğlu was discharged in good health.
