Pediatric Psychiatry

Pediatric and Adolescent Psychiatry is defined by the European Association of Medical Experts as the “prevention, diagnosis and treatment of mental health problems by medical methods, standards and approaches by a specialist physician in children under the age of 18”. Mental disorders at this age may hinder regular psychological development and prevent children and adolescents from accessing their ideal functions. Theidentification, treatment and prevention of these disorders are not only important for the elimination of the problems in this age group, but also for increasing functionality in adult life and preventing the recurrence of the problems in the future.   In the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Mental Health and Diseases, individual psychotherapy, psychodynamic, supportive, cognitive behavioural therapies, game therapy, positive psychotherapy, family therapy, family counselling for children and adolescents aged 0-18 who have difficulties in developmental, mental, cognitive and social fields, mother and father education, drug therapy and psychometric evaluations are applied and treatment services are provided.
