A new year surprise from Near East University Hospital to the children of the Turkish Cypriot Child Protection Agency and SOS Children’s Village!

Near East University Hospital employees made the children at the Turkish Cypriot Child Protection Agency and SOS Children’s Village happy with their gifts as they entered the new year. The gifts received with the support campaign carried out within the scope of social responsibility were delivered to children in SOS Children’s Village and Turkish Cypriot Child Protection Agency.

Many employees of Near East University also contributed to the support campaign organized by Near East University Hospital. On New Year’s Eve, gifts such as gloves, berets, scarf sets, shoes, pajamas, jackets, tracksuits and coats that children needed brought happiness to the children.

Near East University Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Salih Müjdat Balkan, Near East Enterprises Hospitals Marketing Communications Manager Feyza Bundak and Patient Rights Officer Meltem Kavaz visited SOS Children’s Village and the Turkish Cypriot Child Protection Agency and delivered the gifts.

We wanted to make children feel that they are not alone!
Stating that they aim to make children smile in the new year with the social responsibility action they undertake, Near East University Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Salih Müjdat Balkan said, “Our aim is not only to provide financial support to children, but also to make them feel that they are not alone. We wanted to help them achieve their dreams, at least to some extent, with the gifts addressing their needs.” Stating that social responsibility projects can touch every segment of society and create great happiness even with a small amount of help, Prof. Dr. Balkan said that as such projects become widespread and supported, the feelings of solidarity and cooperation in society will become stronger. Prof. Dr. Balkan thanked everyone who supported the project for their contributions.

We always need the support of well-established institutions such as the Near East Enterprises.
Near East University Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Salih Müjdat Balkan and his accompanying delegation first delivered the gifts of the children in SOS Children’s Village to SOS Children’s Village Manager Ahmet Akarsu and Public Relations and Fund Development Manager Cemil Hafız. During the visit, Ahmet Akarsu also gave information about the studies and projects carried out in the TRNC SOS Children’s Village. Akarsu reminded that SOS was established to provide family-based care to children who have lost family care and to raise them as self-confident, independent individuals with long-term, gradual support programs.

Emphasizing that all supports provided are of great importance for the integration of children into society, Akarsu said, “The financial support provided to our institution and support for such periodic needs are of vital importance. We always need the support of well-established institutions such as the Near East Enterprises to be sustainable. We thank the Near East Enterprises for this support.”

Near East University Hospital staff, who also meet the needs of children at the Turkish Cypriot Child Protection Agency, made little hearts happy here, too. The Near East University Hospital delegation delivered the collected gifts to the children at the Turkish Cypriot Child Protection Agency. Ali Birsen, Coordinator of the Turkish Cypriot Child Protection Agency, stated that they provide educational and nutritional support to children who have difficulty accessing education in the Nicosia Çağlayan region, and thanked the staff of the Near East University Hospital for their support. Birsen said, “In addition to the gifts given, conversations with children and assistance based on their needs instill in them the belief that they are not alone and that they can realize their dreams.”
