Near East University Hospital Cancer Center provides gold standard medical oncology services including surgery and radiation therapy for all medical domains

Through a press meeting, Near East University Hospital publicized that the first and fully equipped cancer center of Cyprus was established. It was highlighted that the center was equipped with the most advanced and the latest technological systems required for early diagnosis and timely accurate treatment. In order to provide gold standard medical services without compromising from safety and quality, medical specialist physicians from all relevant domains were brought together under one roof.

Addressing to press members, Medical Oncologist Spec. Dr. Ömer Diker highlighted that the gold standard medical oncology treatment, which is universally recognized and widely used by leading cancer centers in Europe and the US, is also adopted and applied by the Near East University Hospital.

In her opening speech, the Chief Physician Sevim Erkmen underlined the crucial role of technological equipment and multidisciplinary approach in cancer treatment. She underlined that the Near East University Hospital Cancer Center was equipped with the novel technological systems and strong academic staff involved in all domains relevant to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer took active role in councils to determine and tailor a treatment plan for each patient. Then, 12 medical specialist from medical domains that involved in cancer diagnosis and treatment delivered information regarding their specialties and procedures that carried out at the Near East University Hospital Cancer Center.

During the press conference, press members are provided with information about the Near East University Cancer Center and its state-of-the-art medical systems. It was emphasized that the Near East University Hospital is the first and only health facility in Cyprus that equipped with the new generation technology such as RapidArc and Barchytherapy systems and PET/CT system that are only available in rare centers across the world. It was also underlined that the NEU Hospital Cancer Center attaches great importance on carrying out cancer diagnosis and treatment procedures with a holistic and multidisciplinary approach under the same roof and in this context, following the diagnosis of the stage of cancer, a council consisting of medical specialists from Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology, Surgery Oncology and other relevant departments gathers together and evaluates the condition of the patient in details and prepare a patient-tailored treatment plan. It was highlighted that the latest technological systems in safe and experienced hands along with a holistic approach increase the overall success in cancer treatment.

Touching upon the significance of the cooperation protocol that signed between TRNC Ministry of Health and NEU Hospital, Raziye Kocaismail reminded once again that oncology patients that reside in our country with a TRNC citizenship can receive chemotherapy free of charge at NEU Hospital upon their demand provided that their prescribed medicines are supplied by the Ministry of Health of TRNC.
